Governor Jeb Bush recently appointed local businessman Craig Palmer to the Board of Directors of Workforce Florida, Inc.  His term runs through July 6, 2006.

 

A resident of Niceville, Palmer joined Alpha Data Corporation in 1997. As the Director of Business Development for Alpha Data he manages all aspects of business development for the firm and provides program management for projects at Eglin AFB, Robins AFB, Randolph AFB, and Hurlburt Field. In addition he is currently managing or has managed contracts at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Vicksburg, MS, Mobile, AL, Champaign, IL and Stennis Space Center in Mississippi.

 

As a member of the Board of Directors of Workforce Florida, Inc. Palmer will help set state policy and provide oversight to the 24 regional workforce boards in designing and implementing programs to develop a skilled workforce. After attending the new member orientation held in Orlando in March, Palmer said, “It is a privilege to work on the Board of Directors of Workforce Florida, Inc. and with the associated organizations and agencies. I am thoroughly impressed with the intensity of these high caliber and motivated members!”

 

Palmer is a native of New Jersey. He received a BA in Human Resources from Saint Leo College and a Masters Degree in Management from Troy State University. He retired from the U.S. Air Force where he served in numerous capacities including Total Quality Manager, Relocations Manager, Manager of Personal Affairs, as well as several capacities within Air Traffic Control. While in the Air Force he received numerous decorations and citations, was honored for saving two lives and a T-37 aircraft, and received special recognition for exceptional academic achievement.

 

Palmer is married to the former Alberta Brown and they have three children. He enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, nature and is an avid dog lover.

 

Members of the Workforce Development Board of Okaloosa and Walton Counties are pleased to have a local representative serve on the state board. “It is a pleasure to welcome Craig to the workforce community in Florida” said Mary Lou Reed, Executive Director of the local workforce development board. “He is already developing a reputation for being totally committed to his new responsibilities. We are pleased to have Craig represent our area of Florida on the WFI Board."
