The Workforce Development Board recently honored Pam Thompson, Shelton Sumrall and Theresa Horn by naming them the 2nd Annual JobsPlus One-Stop Spirit Award winners. Employees at each JobsPlus One-Stop Center selected the employee at their center who best exemplified the spirit of service, teamwork and motivation to “get the job done”. The Workforce Development Board recognized the three winners at the March board meeting and presented each awardee with a plaque that will be displayed in their center for one year.
Pam Thompson represents the Fort Walton Beach JobsPlus. She has been an employee of Workforce Connection, Inc. for 5 years and currently serves as the Employer Services Manager and Regional Outreach Coordinator for JobsPlus. She is a commissioner on the Okaloosa Commission on the Status of Women, a member of the Emerald Coast Chapters of American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) and Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), a member of Emerald Coast Public Relations Organization (ECPRO), serves as an Ambassador for several Chambers of Commerce, and is completing a term as a member of the Crestview Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Pam is known for her high energy level, “can-do” attitude and enthusiasm for all JobsPlus activities.
Shelton Sumrall is an Employer Services Representative and represents the Crestview JobsPlus. He has been employed by Workforce Connection, Inc. for 2 years. Shelton is recognized by his peers as a team player and is always willing to work closely with and assist his peers. Employers have commented that he is very accessible and willing to assist them with their needs. Shelton was recently elected to the Crestview Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and will be installed in July.
Theresa Horn serves job seekers as a Career Counselor in the DeFuniak Springs JobsPlus. She has been employed by Workforce Connection, Inc. for almost 5 years. She began in Crestview and transferred to the DeFuniak Springs office in May of 2004. She is known by her peers as a great team player. No matter what she is asked to do, she does so willingly and in a spirit of cooperation. Theresa stays busy as a mother of 4 “children”…a son and a daughter plus a dog and an iguana!
In speaking of the awardees, Mary Lou Reed, Executive Director of the Workforce Development Board of Okaloosa and Walton Counties, said, “We are pleased to recognize Pam, Shelton, and Teresa, who have been selected by their peers as the very best representatives of JobsPlus team spirit. Their professionalism and commitment to JobsPlus are key components in meeting the needs of the JobsPlus business and job-seeker customers. We congratulate you for a job well done!”
